Job Description
As an Incident Response Coordinator within Aurizon’s critical transport network, you will be at the forefront of managing and mitigating operational incidents across our rail infrastructure. This high-impact role demands a proactive, analytical, and decisive individual capable of coordinating rapid responses to ensure the safety of personnel, the security of assets, and the continuity of essential freight services. You will lead cross-functional teams, liaise with emergency services, and implement robust incident management protocols to minimize disruption and facilitate swift recovery. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity and reliability of our extensive operations in the transport industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate immediate responses to operational incidents, including derailments, track blockages, equipment failures, and security breaches, across Aurizon's network.
- Establish and maintain clear communication channels with internal stakeholders, emergency services, regulatory bodies, and external partners during incident resolution.
- Develop and implement incident action plans, deploying resources effectively to contain, control, and resolve incidents safely and efficiently.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to identify systemic issues and recommend preventative measures and process improvements.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies throughout all incident management activities.
- Train and mentor team members on incident response procedures and best practices.
- Maintain detailed incident logs, documentation, and reporting for compliance and future reference.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in incident management or emergency response, preferably within the transport, logistics, or heavy industry sectors.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in incident management methodologies and tools.
- Ability to analyze complex situations quickly and develop effective solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and external agencies.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and operational risks in the transport industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in incident command systems (e.g., ICS, AIIMS).
- Experience with rail operations and infrastructure.
- Advanced first aid and/or emergency medical training.
- Project management experience.
