Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable Road Marker Assistants to join our night shift team in Waurn Ponds, Geelong. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical road infrastructure projects, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our road networks. Working primarily during night hours, you will assist in the application and removal of road markings, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and project specifications. We offer high hourly pay for your commitment to this essential work. Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. Previous experience in a similar outdoor or construction environment is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of road surfaces for marking, including cleaning and drying.
- Support the operation of road marking equipment, under supervision.
- Handle and mix marking materials such as paint and thermoplastics.
- Place and remove temporary traffic management devices (e.g., cones, signs) to ensure a safe work zone.
- Adhere strictly to all WHS (Work Health and Safety) policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Perform general labouring tasks as required to support road marking operations.
- Operate hand tools and basic power tools safely.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a night shift environment.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to perform manual labour.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic understanding of English for communication and safety instructions.
- Current Australian Driver's License (manual preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in road construction, civil works, or similar outdoor labour roles.
- White Card (Construction Induction Card).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with traffic management procedures or certifications (e.g., Traffic Controller, Implement Traffic Management Plan).
