Job Description
Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and contribute to significant construction projects? BMD Constructions is seeking a motivated and physically fit Concreter’s Assistant to join our dynamic team in Coffs Harbour. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals eager to learn the concreting trade from experienced professionals, offering a pathway to a rewarding career in construction. You will play a crucial role in supporting our skilled concreters, ensuring smooth and efficient operations on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled concreters with all aspects of concrete placement, finishing, and curing.
- Prepare worksites, including setting up formwork, reinforcing steel, and safety barriers.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete according to specifications.
- Operate small tools and equipment such as vibrators, screeds, and power trowels (under supervision).
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Load and unload materials, including bags of cement, sand, and aggregate.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations and procedures.
- Maintain a tidy and organised work area.
- Perform other general labour duties as required to support the construction team.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety (or willingness to complete white card).
- Excellent punctuality and attendance.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Current Australian 'White Card' (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain immediately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labour role or construction environment (even if informal).
- Basic knowledge of concrete types and applications.
- First Aid certification.
- Manual driver's license.
