Job Description

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and contribute to significant construction projects? BMD Constructions is seeking a motivated and physically fit Concreter’s Assistant to join our dynamic team in Coffs Harbour. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals eager to learn the concreting trade from experienced professionals, offering a pathway to a rewarding career in construction. You will play a crucial role in supporting our skilled concreters, ensuring smooth and efficient operations on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled concreters with all aspects of concrete placement, finishing, and curing.
  • Prepare worksites, including setting up formwork, reinforcing steel, and safety barriers.
  • Mix, pour, and spread concrete according to specifications.
  • Operate small tools and equipment such as vibrators, screeds, and power trowels (under supervision).
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Load and unload materials, including bags of cement, sand, and aggregate.
  • Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised work area.
  • Perform other general labour duties as required to support the construction team.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety (or willingness to complete white card).
  • Excellent punctuality and attendance.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Current Australian 'White Card' (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain immediately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physical labour role or construction environment (even if informal).
  • Basic knowledge of concrete types and applications.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Manual driver's license.
