Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and community-minded individuals to join our team as AEC Electoral Officers for Polling Place Support during upcoming federal electoral events. As an Electoral Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a polling place, assisting voters, and upholding the integrity of the electoral process. This is a temporary, on-site role that offers an invaluable opportunity to contribute to Australian democracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and pack down polling place equipment and materials.
- Greet voters, verify their enrolment, and issue ballot papers.
- Provide clear and concise instructions to voters on how to cast their vote correctly.
- Maintain order and a respectful environment within the polling place.
- Respond to voter enquiries and provide assistance as needed.
- Secure ballot boxes and electoral materials throughout the day.
- Assist with preliminary counts of votes as required.
- Adhere strictly to all AEC policies, procedures, and electoral laws.
- Collaborate effectively with other polling place staff.
