Job Description

Coates Hire in Geelong is seeking a dedicated and physically capable Scaffolding Yard Hand to join our dynamic team. This manual role is crucial to the efficient operation of our yard, involving the handling, preparation, and maintenance of scaffolding equipment. You’ll be part of a supportive team ensuring our equipment is ready for dispatch and returned in excellent condition. This is a full-time, on-site position offering weekly pay, perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and is committed to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading scaffolding equipment safely and efficiently from delivery vehicles.
• Organising and stacking scaffolding components neatly and securely in the yard.
• Performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs on scaffolding equipment.
• Assisting with inventory checks and maintaining accurate records of stock movement.
• Conducting pre-delivery inspections to ensure equipment meets Coates Hire's high safety standards.
• Operating forklifts or other yard machinery as required (with appropriate certification and training).
• Adhering strictly to all workplace health and safety procedures and guidelines.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised work environment within the yard at all times.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth yard operations and customer satisfaction.

• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
• A strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills for accurate record-keeping and inventory management.
• An unwavering commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all company protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a yard hand, warehouse, or other manual labour role, particularly within the construction or rental industry.
• Current forklift license (LF Class) with demonstrated experience.
• Current Australian driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card) is highly regarded.
• Prior knowledge of scaffolding equipment or construction materials is a bonus.
