Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Usher / Door Steward to join our team and assist with the smooth operation of church services, community events, and special gatherings. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming atmosphere for all attendees, guiding visitors, and ensuring a safe and orderly environment. You will be the first point of contact for many, providing assistance and information with a warm and professional demeanor. This part-time position offers flexible hours, primarily focusing on weekend services and scheduled community events.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and welcome congregants and visitors upon arrival.
- Guide attendees to available seating and assist with accessibility needs.
- Distribute bulletins, programs, and other relevant materials.
- Answer general questions and provide information about church services or events.
- Assist with offerings or collections during services.
- Maintain order and decorum during services and events.
- Monitor entry and exit points, ensuring safety and security.
- Be prepared to assist in emergency situations or evacuations.
- Provide assistance to elderly, disabled, or parents with young children.
- Support event organizers with setup and pack-down as needed.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Friendly, welcoming, and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the venue.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Discretion and respect for diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service, hospitality, or ushering role.
- Familiarity with church protocols and community event management.
- First Aid certification.
- A genuine desire to serve the community.
