Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Remote Data Scraper with a strong focus on IT and Python to join our innovative team. In this 100% remote role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data scraping solutions to collect vital information from various web sources. You will play a crucial part in gathering data that informs our product development, market analysis, and strategic decisions. This position requires a solid understanding of web technologies, excellent Python programming skills, and a commitment to data accuracy and ethical scraping practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain efficient and scalable Python-based web crawlers and data scraping scripts.
- Identify and analyze data sources, including websites and APIs, to determine the most effective scraping strategies.
- Implement techniques to handle anti-scraping measures, CAPTCHAs, and dynamic content.
- Clean, process, and transform scraped data into structured formats suitable for analysis and integration.
- Monitor data quality, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the integrity and reliability of collected data.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Document scraping processes, data schemas, and any relevant technical specifications.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, new scraping technologies, and ethical data collection standards.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python programming, including experience with relevant libraries (e.g., BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Selenium, Requests).
- Strong understanding of web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (basic understanding for page interaction).
- Experience with data parsing, cleaning, and transformation techniques.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for deploying and managing scraping infrastructure.
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL or NoSQL) for storing and retrieving scraped data.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating with various data sources.
- Understanding of data governance and privacy regulations.
- Previous experience working in a fully remote or distributed team.
