Job Description

As a Public Transport Information Host at our Murray Bridge Transit Hubs, you will be the friendly face and essential resource for passengers. Your primary role will be to provide accurate, real-time information regarding bus schedules, routes, fares, and service disruptions, ensuring a positive and stress-free travel experience. You will assist passengers with inquiries, help them navigate the transit system, and offer support with ticketing and accessibility needs. This role is crucial in maintaining a welcoming and efficient transit environment for our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide up-to-date information on public transport schedules, routes, and fares to passengers.
  • Assist passengers with journey planning and connections within the public transport network.
  • Respond to and resolve passenger inquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Guide passengers on ticketing options, smart card usage, and fare payment systems.
  • Offer assistance to passengers with special needs, including accessibility information and support.
  • Monitor transit hub activity and report any issues or safety concerns to relevant personnel.
  • Distribute brochures, maps, and other informational materials as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming information desk area at the transit hub.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, especially during service disruptions.
  • Proficiency in using information systems and digital tools for schedule look-ups.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards passenger assistance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service, hospitality, or public-facing role.
  • Familiarity with the Murray Bridge and wider South Australian public transport network.
  • Ability to communicate in languages other than English is a significant advantage.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
