Job Description
Rowes Bay Golf Club is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Turf Maintenance Hand to join our greenskeeping team. This ongoing full-time position involves assisting in the daily care and upkeep of our golf course and surrounding parklands. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our facilities, ensuring a beautiful and playable environment for all visitors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to a scenic and active environment. The role requires physical fitness, reliability, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine mowing of greens, fairways, tees, and roughs using various turf machinery.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of bunkers, including raking and sand replenishment.
- Undertake general landscaping duties such as weeding, mulching, pruning, and planting.
- Operate small machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently (e.g., line trimmers, blowers, edgers).
- Assist with irrigation system checks, repairs, and general water management.
- Participate in fertilisation, top-dressing, and pest control programs.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of turf maintenance equipment and work areas.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures set by the club.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or course issues to the Head Greenkeeper promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of turf maintenance principles and practices.
- Ability to operate basic landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in golf course maintenance, horticulture, or a similar outdoor labour role.
- Certification in Horticulture, Landscaping, or Greenkeeping (e.g., Certificate III in Sports Turf Management).
- Experience with advanced turf care machinery (e.g., specific golf course mowers).
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and basic repair.
- First Aid certification.
