Job Description
Join the friendly team at Bunnings Warehouse Hervey Bay as a Nursery Potting Assistant. This role is perfect for individuals who have a passion for plants and enjoy light, hands-on work in an outdoor environment. You will be instrumental in the care and maintenance of our diverse plant stock, ensuring our garden centre is always well-presented and thriving. This position involves potting, watering, basic plant care, and maintaining a clean and organised nursery area. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn more about horticulture in a supportive team setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the potting and repotting of various plants, ensuring proper soil and container use.
- Perform daily watering and fertilising tasks according to plant needs.
- Monitor plant health, identifying and reporting any signs of pests or diseases.
- Organise and arrange plant displays, ensuring an appealing and accessible layout.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the nursery area, including sweeping and waste removal.
- Provide basic assistance to customers regarding plant location or general care, directing complex queries to senior staff.
- Assist with incoming plant deliveries and stock rotation.
- Ensure all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform light physical tasks, including lifting and bending.
- Keen eye for detail and a meticulous approach to plant care.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn about plant care and nursery operations.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a nursery, garden centre, or similar horticultural environment is a plus.
- A genuine interest in plants and gardening.
- Basic knowledge of plant varieties and care requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
