Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Signage Production Lead to join our dynamic team in Taree. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire production process of large format print signage, from pre-press to finishing and installation coordination. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, leading a small team of production specialists. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a meticulous eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of large format signage production, including printing, laminating, mounting, cutting, and finishing.
- Operate and maintain a variety of large format printing equipment (e.g., flatbed, roll-to-roll printers) and finishing machinery (e.g., plotters, laminators).
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of production staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Conduct quality control checks at every stage of production to ensure accuracy and adherence to client specifications.
- Work closely with the design and sales teams to understand project requirements and provide technical guidance.
- Manage production schedules, workflow, and resource allocation to meet deadlines.
- Oversee inventory of materials, order supplies, and manage waste efficiently.
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations within the production area.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Assist with the coordination and occasional on-site installation of signage.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in large format digital printing and signage production.
- Proven experience in operating and maintaining large format printers (e.g., HP Latex, Roland, Vutek).
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Strong understanding of colour management, print processes, and material properties for signage.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solid understanding of OH&S practices in a production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade qualification in printing, graphic arts, or a related field.
- Experience with RIP software (e.g., Caldera, Onyx).
- Familiarity with various signage substrates and installation techniques.
- Current driver's license.
