Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper to join our remote team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with foundational bookkeeping knowledge, particularly with Xero, who is looking to grow their career in a supportive and dynamic environment. As a WFH Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance and providing timely financial data. This role is 100% remote, offering flexibility and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily transactional data entry, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Process payroll and manage superannuation contributions using Xero Payroll.
  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
  • Maintain general ledgers and prepare trial balances.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to resolve queries and gather necessary information.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
  • Utilise Xero accounting software efficiently for all bookkeeping tasks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with Xero accounting software.
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a professional services or accounting firm environment.
  • Familiarity with other accounting software packages.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple client accounts.
