Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Unpaid Intern – Fashion Design Assistant to join our creative team in Geelong. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of fashion design at a leading Australian brand. You will work closely with our experienced design team, contributing to various stages of the design process and gaining invaluable insight into the industry. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about fashion, eager to learn, and looking to build a strong foundation for their career in design.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the design team with research and mood board creation for upcoming collections.
- Support in the development of technical drawings and specification sheets.
- Organize and maintain the fabric and trim library.
- Prepare design presentations and assist with sample coordination and management.
- Participate in fittings and provide administrative support to the design department.
- Conduct trend analysis and competitive market research.
- Help with ad-hoc tasks as required to support the design team's objectives.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in fashion design and current trends.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Basic understanding of garment construction and textiles.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- High level of attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a fashion design program or related field.
- Previous experience with fashion software (e.g., CLO3D, Optitex) is a plus.
- A portfolio demonstrating design capabilities (sketches, technical flats, mood boards, etc.).
- Knowledge of Country Road's brand aesthetic and core values.
