Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Turf Farm Hand to join our team in Gordonvale, Cairns. This active role involves a variety of tasks crucial to the cultivation and maintenance of high-quality turf. If you enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and have a strong work ethic, we encourage you to apply. This is an ongoing full-time position with regular shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ground for turf planting, including soil conditioning and leveling.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, mowers, and irrigators.
- Plant, cultivate, and harvest various turf varieties.
- Monitor turf health, identify and address issues such as pests, diseases, and weeds.
- Implement irrigation schedules and maintain irrigation systems.
- Assist with general farm maintenance, including fencing, shed upkeep, and equipment cleaning.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and agricultural best practices.
- Support dispatch and loading of turf products.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding manual labor in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices (or willingness to learn).
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in farming, horticulture, or landscaping.
- Experience operating farm machinery (e.g., tractors, forklifts).
- Chemical user accreditation (e.g., ACDC certificate).
- First Aid certification.
