Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Transcriptionist to join our team in a 100% remote capacity. This vital role involves accurately transcribing dictations from medical professionals, ensuring precision in medical terminology, grammar, and formatting. You will be responsible for creating comprehensive and confidential patient records, contributing directly to the quality of patient care. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, a strong understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe medical reports, histories, physicals, consultations, operative reports, discharge summaries, and other medical documents from dictated recordings.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of transcribed documents, adhering to medical-legal requirements and company standards.
- Verify patient information and physician details for each report.
- Utilize medical reference materials and dictionaries to ensure correct spelling and usage of medical terms, drugs, and anatomical references.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations and data privacy policies.
- Manage workload effectively to meet established turnaround times and deadlines.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any discrepancies or issues encountered during transcription.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional listening skills and the ability to discern various accents and dictation styles.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with transcription software and word processing applications.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized medical transcription program (e.g., AHDI).
- Experience with various EMR/EHR systems.
- Familiarity with different medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, gastroenterology).
- Typing speed of 60+ WPM with high accuracy.
