Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Theatre Nurse with Scrub/Scout expertise to join our dynamic perioperative team at Calvary St Luke’s Hospital in Launceston. Key Responsibilities
- Perform scrub and scout duties for a diverse range of surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during operations, anticipating needs and responding effectively.
- Prepare the operating theatre with all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Monitor patient condition throughout the perioperative period, escalating concerns as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and surgical details.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in continuing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior staff members as appropriate.
Required Skills
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Theatre Nurse with demonstrated scrub/scout competencies.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a sterile environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or equivalent.
- Experience across multiple surgical specialties (e.g., Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Experience with electronic health record systems.
