Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tenancy Officer to join our team in Karratha. In this crucial role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of public housing tenancies, ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements, providing support to tenants, and fostering positive community relationships. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in people’s lives by contributing to safe, stable, and well-managed housing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of public housing tenancies, including lease agreements, rent arrears, and property maintenance requests.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and address tenancy breaches in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide information, advice, and support to tenants on their rights and responsibilities, referring to support services where necessary.
  • Mediate disputes and resolve complex tenancy issues, aiming for positive outcomes for all parties.
  • Process applications, transfers, and terminations of tenancies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tenancy records and prepare reports as required.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure holistic support for tenants.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in tenancy management, property management, or a related field (e.g., community services, social work).
  • Strong understanding of relevant tenancy legislation and housing policies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with tenancy management software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Development, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with diverse client groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and support networks in the Pilbara region.
  • Current Western Australian C-class driver’s licence.
