Job Description
Are you a proactive and curious student with a passion for IT systems and infrastructure? BHP offers an exciting Systems Administration Intern opportunity within our Corporate IT Infrastructure team in Port Hedland. This role is designed for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting critical IT systems that support a vast enterprise. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to projects that enhance our network, server, and endpoint management. This internship will provide you with a foundational understanding of corporate IT operations in a challenging and dynamic industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware and software.
- Support the monitoring of system performance and availability, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
- Contribute to user support, troubleshooting hardware and software problems for internal clients.
- Participate in network management tasks, including basic setup and diagnostics.
- Help manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within various IT systems.
- Document IT procedures, configurations, and incident resolutions.
- Learn and apply best practices in IT security and data management.
- Collaborate with senior administrators on infrastructure projects and initiatives.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Familiarity with network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
