Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Summer Intern with a focus on Healthcare Administration to join our dynamic team at Westmead Hospital. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the operational and administrative aspects of a leading healthcare facility. The intern will support various departments, contribute to projects aimed at improving efficiency, and learn about the complexities of healthcare management, patient flow, and service delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing careers in health administration, public health, or related fields to apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting. This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and report generation to support administrative decision-making.
- Support department managers in organizing meetings, preparing agendas, and recording minutes.
- Contribute to ongoing projects related to process improvement, patient experience, or operational efficiency.
- Shadow administrative staff across various hospital departments to understand daily operations.
- Perform general administrative duties such as filing, record keeping, and responding to inquiries.
- Help prepare presentations and informational materials for internal stakeholders.
- Learn and adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and healthcare privacy regulations.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in healthcare operations and administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
