Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Student Services Officer to join our team in Geelong. This role is crucial in providing comprehensive support and guidance to our tertiary education students, ensuring they have a positive and successful academic journey. You will be the primary point of contact for student enquiries, assisting with a wide range of academic and welfare-related matters, and connecting students with appropriate university resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive information and advice to students on university policies, procedures, and services.
- Assist students with enrolment, course planning, and academic progression enquiries.
- Refer students to specialised support services such such as counselling, disability support, and financial aid.
- Resolve student queries efficiently and empathetically, maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation in accordance with university guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of student support resources and initiatives.
- Liaise with academic and administrative departments to ensure seamless student support.
- Participate in student orientation programs and university events.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a student services or customer service role, preferably within a tertiary education setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to student support.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
- High level of empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity.
- Proficiency in using student management systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in Education, Social Work, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Deakin University's systems and services.
- Experience working with international students.
