Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Sommelier to elevate the wine program at The Quarter Cafe and Restaurant. The successful candidate will be a true connoisseur, possessing an extensive knowledge of wines from around the world, an exceptional palate, and a commitment to providing an outstanding guest experience. You will be responsible for managing our diverse wine cellar, guiding guests through our extensive list, and ensuring seamless wine service aligned with our fine dining standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curate and maintain an evolving wine list that complements our menu and caters to diverse guest preferences.
  • Provide expert wine recommendations to guests, understanding their preferences and pairing suggestions with food.
  • Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and cellar maintenance.
  • Conduct regular wine tastings and staff training sessions to enhance the team's wine knowledge and service standards.
  • Oversee the proper storage and handling of all wines to ensure optimal quality and condition.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wine trends, regions, vintages, and producers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant licensing and service regulations.
  • Contribute to the overall guest experience, embodying the restaurant's commitment to excellence.

Required Skills

  • Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers or WSET Level 3/Diploma equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining establishment.
  • Extensive knowledge of global wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong guest-focused approach.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory, control costs, and maintain cellar organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Sommelier or Master Sommelier certification.
  • Experience with wine list curation and menu development.
  • Fluency in additional languages.
