Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Social Work Students for a Clinical Field Placement opportunity within our diverse programs in Launceston, Tasmania. This placement offers an invaluable hands-on experience for students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, working alongside experienced social work professionals. You will contribute to meaningful client outcomes across various service areas, developing essential clinical skills, ethical practice, and a deep understanding of community needs. This placement is designed to meet university requirements for supervised practice, providing a rich learning environment and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist social workers in conducting client assessments, developing support plans, and facilitating interventions.
- Engage directly with clients, families, and community groups under supervision to provide support and advocacy.
- Participate in case management, team meetings, and interagency collaboration.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organisational policies and ethical guidelines.
- Research and identify community resources and referral pathways for clients.
- Contribute to program development and evaluation initiatives as appropriate.
- Adhere to professional social work ethics and standards, as well as organisational policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor or Master of Social Work program.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to empathize and build rapport with diverse individuals.
- Understanding of social justice principles and commitment to ethical practice.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a community or social service setting.
- Familiarity with local Tasmanian social service landscape.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and proactive approach to learning.
