Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to start a career in secure data management with comprehensive training provided? Iron Mountain is seeking a dedicated and reliable Shredding Machine Operator to join our team in Lismore. In this entry-level role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of industrial shredding equipment, ensuring the secure destruction of confidential documents and media. Full training will be given to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role, including safety protocols, machine operation, and secure handling procedures. This is a crucial role within our operations, contributing directly to our clients’ data security and compliance needs. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate industrial shredding equipment safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
- Load and unload materials (documents, media, etc.) for secure destruction.
- Perform routine pre-operation and post-operation checks on machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Adhere strictly to all security protocols and chain-of-custody procedures for sensitive materials.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or security breaches.
- Assist with sorting and baling shredded materials for recycling.
- Complete necessary paperwork and logs accurately.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items regularly (up to 25kg).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating machinery (training provided).
- Ability to follow strict safety and security procedures.
- Effective communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, production, or manufacturing environment.
- Forklift license (though not essential, training may be provided later).
