Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sewerage Plant Operator (Trainee) to join our vital operations team in Blacktown. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity to start a rewarding career in an essential service industry. As a Trainee, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training and formal qualifications to become a skilled operator, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment facilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in a structured training program to develop a thorough understanding of wastewater treatment processes and plant operations.
  • Assist experienced operators with the monitoring and control of plant equipment, pumps, valves, and treatment units.
  • Learn to conduct routine inspections and checks of plant machinery, identifying and reporting any faults or anomalies.
  • Support the collection of samples for laboratory analysis and assist with basic on-site testing.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and environmental regulations, contributing to a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and data logs.
  • Assist with general housekeeping and maintenance tasks to ensure the plant is clean and tidy.
  • Develop problem-solving skills to troubleshoot minor operational issues under supervision.

  • NSW Class C Driver's License (or equivalent) is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a labouring, industrial, or outdoor work environment.
  • Completion of a relevant VET qualification or trade certificate (e.g., Certificate II/III in Water Operations).
  • Understanding of basic science principles, particularly chemistry or biology.
