Job Description
Hedland Senior High School is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Canteen Helper to join our dedicated team. This part-time role is perfectly suited for individuals, particularly stay-at-home parents, looking for flexible hours that align with school schedules. You will be instrumental in the daily operation of our school canteen, ensuring a positive experience for our students and staff by assisting with food preparation, serving, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, chopping, and assembling simple meals.
- Serve food and beverages to students and staff during recess and lunch breaks.
- Operate point-of-sale systems and handle cash/card transactions accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the canteen, including washing dishes, wiping surfaces, and general tidying.
- Restock shelves and displays with food items, drinks, and snacks.
- Assist with inventory management and reporting low stock levels.
- Ensure a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.
- Adhere to all food safety and health regulations.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene practices.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications

- Current First Aid certificate.
- Food Safety Certificate.
- Experience working with school-aged children.
