Job Description

We are seeking a warm and enthusiastic School Canteen Helper to join our dedicated team at Burgmann Anglican School in Gungahlin. This part-time role is ideal for stay-at-home parents seeking flexible hours during school terms. You will play a key role in assisting with daily canteen operations, ensuring a positive and efficient service for our students and staff. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, including making sandwiches, salads, and heating prepared meals.
  • Serve food and beverages to students and staff during recess and lunch periods.
  • Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the canteen area, including washing dishes and tidying up.
  • Restock shelves and ensure supplies are adequately maintained.
  • Adhere to all food safety and health regulations.
  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service to students and staff.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
  • Current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) check or willingness to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • First Aid certificate.
