Job Description
We are seeking a warm and enthusiastic School Canteen Helper to join our dedicated team at Burgmann Anglican School in Gungahlin. This part-time role is ideal for stay-at-home parents seeking flexible hours during school terms. You will play a key role in assisting with daily canteen operations, ensuring a positive and efficient service for our students and staff. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including making sandwiches, salads, and heating prepared meals.
- Serve food and beverages to students and staff during recess and lunch periods.
- Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the canteen area, including washing dishes and tidying up.
- Restock shelves and ensure supplies are adequately maintained.
- Adhere to all food safety and health regulations.
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service to students and staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
- Current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) check or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a canteen, cafe, or food service environment.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- First Aid certificate.
