Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit Rural Fencing Labourer to join our team in Mount Isa. This full-time, on-site role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, constructing and maintaining fences on rural properties. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from digging post holes to erecting wire and timber fences, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and safety. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, have a strong work ethic, and are keen to contribute to the backbone of Australia’s rural infrastructure. Training will be provided for those with limited experience but a willingness to learn and commit.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the construction and repair of various types of rural fences, including wire, timber, and mesh.
- Dig post holes manually or using machinery (e.g., post-hole diggers).
- Install fence posts, strainers, and gates according to specifications.
- Handle, cut, and attach fencing materials such as wire, netting, and timber.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organised work site.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Work effectively as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.
- Perform general labouring duties as required on rural properties.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina for demanding outdoor work.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Basic understanding of hand tools.
- Willingness to learn and take instruction.
- Current Australian Driver's License (manual preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in rural fencing or general labouring.
- Experience operating quad bikes, tractors, or other farm machinery.
- First Aid certification.
- Rural background or experience working on farms.
- White Card (General Construction Induction Card).
