Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Road Safety Coordinator to join our team in Geelong. This role is crucial in supporting the implementation and evaluation of road safety initiatives across the region, contributing to a safer transport network for all road users. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and local communities to identify road safety issues, develop targeted interventions, and promote safe road user behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of road safety programs and initiatives within the Geelong region.
  • Engage with local councils, community groups, and other stakeholders to identify road safety priorities and foster collaborative partnerships.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret road safety data to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence related to road safety projects and outcomes.
  • Advise on best practices in road safety, aligning with state and national strategies.
  • Support public awareness campaigns and educational programs on road safety.
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines, ensuring efficient delivery of initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in road safety, transport planning, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management and coordination.
  • Sound knowledge of road safety principles, policies, and legislation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in transport planning, engineering, public health, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a government environment.
  • Knowledge of the Victorian road network and local road safety challenges.
  • Valid Victorian Driver's License.
