Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Quantity Surveying Cadet to join our dynamic team in Springwood, Queensland. This is an exceptional opportunity for an aspiring professional to kickstart their career within a Tier 1 construction firm. As a Cadet, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training and mentorship, learning the fundamental principles of quantity surveying, cost management, and contract administration on large-scale projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining practical experience and contributing to the successful delivery of diverse projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Senior Quantity Surveyors with quantity take-offs, measurements, and cost estimations.
- Support in the preparation of tender documentation, contract reviews, and variations.
- Help monitor project costs, track expenses, and prepare progress reports.
- Conduct site visits to gather information, assess work progress, and verify quantities.
- Assist with the procurement of materials and services, including supplier liaison and purchase order management.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and databases.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on cost control and value engineering.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures on-site and in the office.
Required Skills
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive attitude and a strong eagerness to learn and develop.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Some prior work experience or internships in the construction industry (desirable but not essential).
- Understanding of basic construction methodologies and terminology.
