Job Description
Hays is seeking a dedicated Payroll Support professional to join our client’s public sector team in Traralgon. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll for government employees, working standard business hours, Monday to Friday. You will be instrumental in providing excellent support, resolving queries, and maintaining payroll integrity within a dynamic public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently for public sector employees.
- Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries from staff and stakeholders.
- Assist with the interpretation and application of relevant awards, agreements, and legislation.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with reconciliation activities.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably within the public sector.
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and superannuation.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., SAP, Aurion, Chris21).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with large-scale payroll systems.
- Familiarity with public sector specific enterprise agreements.
