Job Description
Join Australia Post as a Seasonal Postie Assistant in Alice Springs! This vital temporary role supports our operations during peak demand, ensuring timely delivery of mail and parcels to our valued customers. You’ll be an essential part of a dedicated team, contributing to the efficient flow of logistics and upholding Australia Post’s commitment to community service. This is a hands-on role requiring physical fitness, reliability, and a customer-focused attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Posties with sorting and preparing mail and parcels for delivery.
- Support delivery rounds, which may include driving and walking, to ensure all items reach their destination.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles with mail and parcels.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with the public.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support peak period operations.
Required Skills
- Strong physical fitness and stamina, capable of lifting up to 16kg and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding outdoor environment.
- Excellent reliability and punctuality.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid Australian driver's license (manual preferred, but not essential for all roles).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery, logistics, or outdoor role.
- Knowledge of the local Alice Springs area and street network.
- Experience driving light commercial vehicles or motorbikes.
- Basic first aid certification.
