Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Pastry Chef to join our acclaimed culinary team at our high-end patisserie operation in Wetherill Park. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide range of high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and confectionery items according to established recipes and standards.
- Assist in the development and innovation of new pastry concepts and seasonal menus.
- Maintain immaculate standards of hygiene and food safety within the pastry section.
- Manage ingredient inventory, ensure proper storage, and minimize waste.
- Oversee the presentation and plating of all pastry items, ensuring visual appeal and consistency.
- Collaborate effectively with the wider kitchen team to ensure seamless service.
- Train and mentor junior pastry staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and culinary excellence.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Demi Chef de Partie in a high-volume or fine-dining establishment.
- Exceptional knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
- Strong artistic flair and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP preferred).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Patisserie or Commercial Cookery.
- Experience with advanced pastry techniques (e.g., sugar work, chocolate tempering, blown sugar).
- A portfolio showcasing previous pastry creations.
