Job Description
We are seeking ambitious and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Mining Engineering Cadets. This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring mining engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic regional FIFO (Fly-in Fly-out) environment across various mine sites in Australia. You will be instrumental in supporting our engineering teams, learning fundamental aspects of mine planning, operations, and safety. This role offers a structured development program designed to build your foundational knowledge and skills for a successful career in the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior mining engineers with daily operational tasks and project work.
- Learn and apply mine planning principles, including scheduling, design, and resource estimation.
- Participate in site visits and field assessments to understand operational challenges and solutions.
- Contribute to safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Analyze data and prepare reports on production, efficiency, and project progress.
- Engage in continuous learning and development through training programs and mentorship.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and best practices on site.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including geology, processing, and maintenance.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
- Strong academic record and a genuine interest in the mining industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented FIFO environment.
- Willingness to relocate temporarily to regional mine sites on a FIFO roster.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous practical experience (e.g., internships, vacation work) in a mining or heavy industry setting.
- Proficiency in mining software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac, MineSight).
- Current driver's license.
