Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Part-time Loading Dock Hand to join our busy logistics team in Bowen. This ongoing role involves assisting with the efficient movement of freight and goods within our loading dock area. You will play a crucial part in ensuring shipments are handled safely, accurately, and on schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for consistent day work in a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload freight from trucks and trailers using appropriate equipment.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests and other documentation.
- Sort and organize goods on the loading dock for efficient storage or dispatch.
- Operate pallet jacks and other manual handling equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment on the loading dock.
- Report any damaged goods or discrepancies immediately.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg) repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading manifests and counting items.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or loading dock environment.
- Current forklift license (LF Class).
- Experience operating pallet jacks or similar material handling equipment.
