Job Description
Mandurah Legal is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Law Clerk (Student) to join our dynamic team for a unique boutique law firm placement. This is an exceptional opportunity for a current law student to gain invaluable practical experience in a supportive and fast-paced legal environment. You will work closely with experienced solicitors, providing crucial support across a range of legal matters. This role is designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with real-world legal practice, offering hands-on involvement in case management, legal research, and client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist solicitors with legal research and drafting various legal documents, including correspondence, memorandums, and court forms.
- Manage and organize client files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Attend client meetings and court proceedings as required, taking detailed notes.
- Support the administrative functions of the firm, including answering phones and managing schedules.
- Conduct due diligence and prepare summaries of legal findings.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve client objectives.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) program at an accredited university.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an office environment, preferably legal.
- Completion of relevant law units such as Property Law, Family Law, or Civil Procedure.
- Ability to commit to the placement for a minimum of 6 months.
