Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Laundry Sorter to join our industrial laundry facility in Bundaberg. This role involves the routine sorting, counting, and preparation of soiled linen and garments from various commercial and healthcare clients for washing. Attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are crucial. You will be an integral part of our operations, ensuring a smooth flow of materials through the laundry process.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and count incoming soiled linen and garments from various client streams.
- Identify and separate items according to fabric type, colour, size, and level of soiling.
- Remove foreign objects from linen pockets prior to processing.
- Load sorted items into appropriate containers or trolleys for transfer to washing machines.
- Maintain a clean and organised sorting area.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding inventory and workflow issues.
- Perform other general laundry duties as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and move bags of linen (up to 15-20kg).
- Attention to detail and accuracy in sorting.
- Reliable and punctual work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a laundry, warehouse, or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with different types of fabrics and textile care labels.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
