Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and efficient Laundry Sorter to join our dedicated Hotel Services team at Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences. This full-time, on-site position involves the accurate sorting and handling of all hotel linens, towels, and guest items to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our guest experience by ensuring a consistent supply of pristine linen. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately sort soiled laundry items, including bed linens, towels, and uniforms, according to established hotel procedures and categories.
- Inspect items for stains, damage, or wear and separate them for special treatment, repair, or discard as per hotel guidelines.
- Load laundry into industrial washing machines and dryers, adhering to specified weight limits and cycle instructions for different fabric types.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the laundry facility at all times.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or supply shortages to the Laundry Supervisor promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and hotel policies.
- Assist with other laundry and linen room duties, such as folding and packing, as required to support the team.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with high accuracy.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry loads up to 15 kg, bend, and push/pull laundry carts.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards in a hospitality setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a laundry, hotel housekeeping, or similar industrial environment.
- Familiarity with various fabric types and their appropriate care instructions.
- Experience operating commercial laundry equipment.
