Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Justice Department Assistant to join our Community Corrections team in Wetherill Park. This vital role supports the effective operation of community correction programs by providing comprehensive administrative and operational assistance. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth coordination of services, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating communication between clients, justice professionals, and our support networks. Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level administrative support to the Community Corrections team, including scheduling, correspondence, and report preparation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and departmental policies.
- Liaise with clients, external agencies, and internal stakeholders to coordinate appointments, referrals, and program activities.
- Assist in the preparation of case files, reports, and presentations for court appearances and review meetings.
- Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and postal mail, directing enquiries appropriately.
- Process financial transactions, invoices, and expense claims in accordance with organisational guidelines.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative processes and support systems within the department.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative or office support role, preferably within a government or community services setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with database management systems.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with diverse individuals.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Social Work, Criminology, or a related field.
- Previous experience within the justice system, community corrections, or a similar public sector environment.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies pertaining to justice services and community support in NSW.
- Experience with client management systems or electronic record-keeping.
