Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Legal Counsel to join our Corporate Law team in Port Augusta. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate or a junior lawyer with foundational experience to embark on a professional path in corporate law. You will be instrumental in supporting senior lawyers on a diverse range of corporate matters, including mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance. This role offers hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and a structured mentorship program designed to accelerate your career within a top-tier legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and analysis on corporate law matters.
- Draft and review various corporate and commercial documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate policies.
- Assist in due diligence processes for M&A transactions.
- Prepare legal opinions, memos, and client advisories.
- Support senior lawyers in managing caseloads and transaction timelines.
- Liaise with clients, external counsel, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practices.
- Participate in client meetings and negotiations as required.
- Contribute to the development of legal precedents and knowledge management resources.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Admission to practice law in Australia (or eligibility for immediate admission).
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (including internships or clerkships) in corporate law, commercial law, or a related field.
- Understanding of Australian corporate regulatory framework (e.g., Corporations Act 2001).
- Experience with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis or Westlaw.
- A genuine interest in corporate transactions and commercial strategy.
