Job Description

Join Arkhefield as an Interior Design Intern and gain invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic residential and commercial studio. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, contribute to live projects, and develop essential skills in interior design. You will be immersed in all stages of the design process, from conceptualization to execution, helping to bring inspiring spaces to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers with project research, material sourcing, and mood board creation.
  • Prepare design presentations, concept sketches, and technical drawings using CAD software.
  • Support the team in developing detailed specifications for furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
  • Participate in client meetings and site visits, gaining exposure to project coordination.
  • Organize and maintain the materials library, ensuring resources are current and accessible.
  • Contribute to design documentation, including schedules and specifications.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support studio operations.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • A keen eye for design, color, and spatial relationships.
  • Proactive and eager to learn with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Interior Design or Architecture program.
  • Prior experience (even unpaid or academic project-based) in an interior design or architectural setting.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with Revit is a plus.
