Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Instructional Designer (Assistant) to join our dynamic EdTech team at Central Queensland University’s Mackay campus. This entry-level role is perfect for an individual passionate about educational technology and instructional design principles, eager to contribute to the development of high-quality online and blended learning experiences. You will work closely with senior instructional designers, subject matter experts, and multimedia developers to assist in the creation, revision, and enhancement of course materials and learning activities. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the analysis of learning needs and the development of instructional objectives for various courses and programs.
- Support senior instructional designers in designing and developing engaging and effective learning materials, including presentations, activities, assessments, and multimedia content.
- Contribute to the conversion of face-to-face course content into online and blended learning formats.
- Help ensure learning content is accessible, meets quality standards, and aligns with pedagogical best practices.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of online courses and materials, identifying areas for improvement.
- Assist in the management and organisation of learning resources within the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Stay informed about new trends and technologies in instructional design and educational technology.
- Provide administrative support to the EdTech team as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of instructional design principles and learning theories.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard).
- Basic proficiency with multimedia development tools (e.g., video editing, graphic design software).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (academic or professional) in an educational or training environment.
- Experience with adult learning principles.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) for online learning materials.
- Knowledge of gamification or interactive learning strategies.
- Portfolio demonstrating instructional design concepts or projects.
