Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Incident Response Coordinator to join our operational team in Wollongong, NSW. In this critical role, you will be responsible for coordinating immediate responses to operational incidents within our transport and logistics network. This includes managing communications, deploying resources, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in incident management within a fast-paced environment, preferably in the transport or logistics industry, and have the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. This position offers a high hourly rate, reflecting the demanding and vital nature of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the response to all operational incidents, including accidents, breakdowns, security breaches, and service disruptions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external emergency services during incidents.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans and protocols, ensuring they are current and effective.
  • Facilitate communication channels during an incident, providing timely updates to management, affected parties, and relevant authorities.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement and prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure all incident documentation is accurately completed and maintained, adhering to company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to operational staff on incident recognition and initial response procedures.
  • Manage and track incident resolution, ensuring all necessary follow-up actions are completed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of incident management processes and tools.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an incident response or operational coordination role.
  • Demonstrated experience in the transport, logistics, or a related high-pressure operational industry.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate responses effectively during critical incidents.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Proficiency in incident management software and communication platforms.
  • Sound understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements in the transport sector.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Business Management, Emergency Management, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Incident Command System (ICS) or other recognized incident management frameworks.
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of Australian transport regulations and industry best practices.
