Job Description
Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and eager to kick-start a career in modern farming? Costa Group is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Hydroponic Assistant to join our innovative team in Rockingham, Western Australia. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with no prior experience in hydroponics but a strong desire to learn and contribute to cutting-edge food production. You will receive comprehensive training in all aspects of hydroponic system management, plant care, and harvesting techniques. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planting, transplanting, and general care of crops in hydroponic systems.
- Monitor plant health, growth, and nutrient levels under supervision.
- Perform routine tasks such as pruning, trellising, and pest scouting.
- Prepare nutrient solutions and manage water systems for optimal plant growth.
- Participate in harvesting, packing, and post-harvest handling of produce.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of growing areas and equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Accurately record data related to plant growth, yields, and environmental conditions.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- A passion for agriculture, horticulture, or environmental sustainability.
- Previous experience in a farm, garden, or greenhouse environment (even personal projects).
- Basic understanding of plant biology or chemistry.
- Forklift license (training can be provided).
