Job Description

Join Central Coast Local Health District as a Hospital Cleaner at Wyong Hospital and become an integral part of our essential services team. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties in patient rooms, operating theatres, waiting areas, offices, and common areas, adhering to strict hospital protocols.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sanitise surfaces, floors, fixtures, and medical equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques.
  • Empty waste bins, including general and clinical waste, ensuring correct segregation and disposal according to health regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, including replenishment of supplies and sanitisation.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and pressure washers safely and effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to all infection control, occupational health, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisory team promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff to support efficient hospital operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting (within safe limits), and pushing.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic communication skills for effective team interaction.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous cleaning experience, particularly within a healthcare, aged care, or commercial environment.
