Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health Physician to join our corporate team in Glenelg, South Australia. This full-time role operates Monday to Friday, focusing on providing expert medical advice and services to support the health and well-being of our diverse workforce across various business units. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and managing occupational health programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert occupational health medical advice and services to management and employees.
  • Conduct pre-employment medical assessments, fitness for work assessments, and return-to-work evaluations.
  • Manage and advise on complex injury and illness cases, including workers' compensation claims.
  • Develop and implement occupational health policies, procedures, and wellness programs.
  • Monitor workplace health hazards and provide recommendations for control measures.
  • Conduct workplace health surveillance and screenings as required.
  • Collaborate with HR, WHS, and line management to ensure a holistic approach to employee well-being.
  • Deliver health education and promotion initiatives to the workforce.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
  • Stay abreast of changes in occupational health legislation, best practices, and industry trends.

Required Skills

  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) and full registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
  • Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (FAFOEM) or equivalent specialist qualification.
  • Minimum of 7 years post-specialisation experience in occupational health, preferably within a corporate or large industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in injury management, workers' compensation, and fitness for work assessments.
  • Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across a diverse range of industries (e.g., retail, manufacturing, logistics).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Toxicology, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and delivering health and wellness programs.
  • Familiarity with contemporary HR and WHS information systems.
