Job Description
Join the Capilano Honey team as a Seasonal Honey Harvester! This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who love working outdoors and are looking for seasonal employment within a vital agricultural industry. We provide all necessary gear and comprehensive training, making this an ideal role for those new to beekeeping or seasonal farm work. You’ll be involved in the hands-on process of collecting honey from our apiaries, ensuring the health and productivity of our bee colonies. This physically demanding role requires dedication, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe and efficient harvesting of honeycombs from bee hives.
- Operate honey extraction equipment under supervision.
- Clean and maintain beekeeping equipment and tools.
- Monitor bee health and report any anomalies to the lead beekeeper.
- Ensure all safety protocols and animal welfare guidelines are strictly followed.
- Assist with hive maintenance tasks, including moving hives and general upkeep.
- Work effectively as part of a team in various outdoor environments.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and animal welfare.
- No prior beekeeping experience required; full training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in agricultural work, manual labor, or outdoor-based roles.
- Basic understanding of agricultural machinery or tools.
- First Aid certification (desirable but not essential).
