Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Health Information Analyst specializing in Clinical Data to join our dynamic team within the Government Healthcare sector. This critical role involves the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of complex clinical data to support evidence-based decision-making, improve patient outcomes, and ensure compliance with government health regulations and standards. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that inform clinical practice, operational efficiency, and strategic planning across our health service. You will work closely with clinicians, IT professionals, and administrative staff to enhance data quality, develop robust reporting mechanisms, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and validate large datasets of clinical information from various sources.
  • Perform advanced statistical analysis on clinical data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for various stakeholders, including executive leadership, clinicians, and government bodies.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., Australian Privacy Principles) and government reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to understand data needs, define metrics, and support research initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in data collection, storage, and reporting.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on data-related tools and reporting systems.
  • Participate in projects aimed at enhancing health information systems and data governance frameworks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in health information analysis or a related field, with a strong focus on clinical data.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data visualization).
  • Solid understanding of healthcare terminology, clinical coding, and health information management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting complex data to non-technical audiences.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Information Management, Biostatistics, Public Health, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, SNOMED CT).
  • Knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g., R, Python) for advanced analytics.
  • Project management experience in a healthcare setting.
