Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable Freight Sorters to join our night shift team in Cairns. This ongoing full-time position offers high penalty rates for night work, rewarding your commitment to our critical logistics operations. As a Freight Sorter, you will be instrumental in the efficient movement of goods through our distribution centre, ensuring timely sorting, scanning, and loading of various freight types. This role requires physical fitness, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately sort and scan various types of freight, including parcels, pallets, and general cargo.
- Load and unload freight safely and efficiently using appropriate equipment or manual handling techniques.
- Verify freight details against manifests and shipping documents, reporting discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and trolleys as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet operational targets.
- Adhere to strict deadlines for freight processing and dispatch.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as directed by team leaders.
Required Skills
- Ability to work consistent night shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required.
- Physical fitness and capability to lift, push, and pull freight weighing up to 25kg repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable transport to and from our Cairns depot.
- Commitment to upholding safety standards and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or freight sorting role.
- Current forklift license (LF endorsement) is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of warehousing and distribution processes.
