Job Description
Are you a passionate and curious food science student eager to make a tangible impact on the future of food? Nestlé Australia invites you to join our dynamic Product Innovation team as a Food Scientist Intern. This hands-on internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real-world projects, from concept development to pilot production, gaining invaluable experience in a world-class R&D environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the research and development of new food products and formulations, under the guidance of senior scientists.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot plant trials to test ingredients, processes, and product prototypes.
- Perform analytical and sensory evaluations of product samples, recording and interpreting data accurately.
- Contribute to the optimization of existing product formulations for taste, texture, nutritional value, and shelf-life.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on project progress and findings.
- Ensure adherence to food safety standards, quality control protocols, and good laboratory practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related scientific field.
- Basic understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and processing principles.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and data collection.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food laboratory or pilot plant setting (academic projects or prior internships).
- Familiarity with sensory evaluation methods and statistical analysis software.
