Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled EV Station Maintenance Tech – Advanced to join our growing team in Cairns, Queensland. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the advanced maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of our cutting-edge electric vehicle charging infrastructure. You will ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our EV charging stations, playing a vital role in supporting Australia’s transition to sustainable transportation. This position requires a strong technical background in electrical systems, electronics, and a deep understanding of EV charging technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on EV charging stations, identifying and resolving complex technical issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and execute scheduled service activities to ensure peak operational efficiency.
- Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components, including power modules, communication boards, and charging cables.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and software to analyze system performance and identify potential problems.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory usage.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and customers when required.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to provide feedback for continuous improvement of EVSE hardware and software.
- Participate in on-call rotations for emergency service as needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical maintenance, industrial electronics, or EV charging infrastructure.
- Proven experience with advanced diagnostic techniques and troubleshooting complex electrical and electronic systems.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC power systems, power electronics, and network protocols (e.g., OCPP).
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical trade qualification (e.g., Electrician's License) in Australia.
- Experience with specific EV charging station hardware (e.g., Tritium, Kempower, ABB).
- Familiarity with cloud-based monitoring and control systems for EVSE.
- Advanced diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Arc flash and high-voltage safety training.
